Unusual winter activity of Bufo bufo (Anura: Bufonidae)

As ectotherms, amphibians in the northern hemisphere are forced into hibernation due to seasonal periods of low temperatures, shorter days or reduced food supplies. Although it has been reported recent years that some ectothermic animals may be active even winter effect global climate change, activity records for toads uncommon. Therefore, we would like report a case from north Anatolia, Turkey via common toad, Bufo bufo. Documenting these unusual events not only adds biological knowledge species, but also provides valuable preliminary evidence analyzing change patterns.
